About the course

Title:  LabVIEW

Course Overview:

This course is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of LabVIEW, a graphical programming language used for data acquisition, instrument control, and industrial automation. Through a combination of theoretical sessions and hands-on practice, participants will learn to create, test, and debug LabVIEW programs, develop simple data acquisition applications, and perform basic data analysis.

Target Audience:

  • Students and professionals in engineering and related fields.
  • Individuals with basic programming knowledge who are new to LabVIEW.

Duration:

3 Days (6 hours per day)

Course Objectives:

  • Understand the basic concepts and architecture of LabVIEW.
  • Develop familiarity with the LabVIEW environment and graphical programming.
  • Learn to create and manage Virtual Instruments (VIs).
  • Implement basic data acquisition and analysis tasks using LabVIEW.
  • Develop simple applications for real-world data processing and visualization.

Course Structure:

Day 1: Introduction to LabVIEW

  • Session 1: Overview of LabVIEW and its Applications.
  • Session 2: Introduction to the LabVIEW Environment (Front Panel, Block Diagram, Controls, and Indicators).
  • Session 3: Basic Programming Concepts (Data Types, Structures, and Functions).

Day 2: Virtual Instruments (VIs)

  • Session 4: Creating and Managing VIs.
  • Session 5: Loops, Case Structures, and File I/O.
  • Session 6: Hands-On Practice: Developing a Basic VI.

Day 3: Data Acquisition and Analysis

  • Session 7: Introduction to Data Acquisition with LabVIEW.
  • Session 8: Data Visualization and Analysis Techniques.
  • Session 9: Hands-On Practice: Creating a Simple Data Acquisition and Analysis Application.

Expected Outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate the LabVIEW environment confidently.
  • Create and manage basic Virtual Instruments (VIs).
  • Apply LabVIEW programming techniques to solve simple data acquisition and analysis problems.
  • Design and implement basic real-time data acquisition systems.
  • Use LabVIEW tools for data visualization and analysis.

Resources Required:

  • LabVIEW software installed on all participant computers.
  • Sample data for practice sessions.
  • Basic data acquisition hardware (e.g., NI DAQ devices) for practical sessions.

Assessment & Certification:

  • Participants will be assessed through a hands-on project, where they will be required to develop a simple LabVIEW application.
  • A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the project.
